Craig Clark
Dr. Craig R. Clark is a Principal Researcher Scientist and Chief Scientist of the Quantum Systems Group of the CIPHER Laboratory at GTRI. His research focuses on developing surface electrode ion trap technology for quantum information experiments. He has led multiple programs focusing on improving the building blocks needed for ion trap quantum information, including fast low heating ion transport, fast re-cooling techniques, and high fidelity one- and two-qubit operations.
Prior to arriving at GTRI, Dr. Clark was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff as an Optical Engineer at Sandia National Laboratories in the Photonics Microsystems Technologies Department. Dr. Clark received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2011 under the advisement of Dr. Kenneth Brown, in which Dr. Clark also was a GTRI Robert G. Shackleford Fellow. His graduate research used ion trap technology to study sympathetic heating and cooling of trapped atomic and molecular ions. He also holds BS degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics from Kennesaw State University.
