Richard Starr is a senior research scientist responsible for the IPaT Secure Data Enclave (IPaT SDE) (formerly the Protected Health Data infrastructure at IPaT). He develops and manages a common infrastructure to work with healthcare data. This secure environment can be employed across campus to house research data to maintain compliance with HIPAA, IRB, and partnership agreements.

Carrie Bruce, PhD, CCC-SLP, is a researcher in person-environment interaction with 25+ years experience in healthcare, rehabilitation, HCI, accessibility, and inclusive design. As a Principal Research Scientist at Georgia Tech, she is the Assistant Director and Research Manager for the MS-HCI program; teaches courses related to UX research methods, accessibility, universal design, and interactive products; and conducts research related to technology and information design. Dr. Bruce's expertise is in examining design issues relative to people's abilities and investigating methodologies that measure the impact of physical and social environment factors on activity, performance, and participation.

Josiah Hester

Josiah Hester works broadly in computer engineering, with a special focus on wearable devices, edge computing, and cyber-physical systems. His Ph.D. work focused on energy harvesting and battery-free devices that failed intermittentently. He now focuses on sustainable approaches to computing, via designing health wearables, interactive devices, and large-scale sensing for conservation.

Brian Jones

Brian D. Jones is a senior research engineer at Georgia Tech, where since 1993, he has developed interactive applications for use in informal learning environments, on smartphones, and in the home. In 2008, Mr. Jones was named director of the Aware Home Research Initiative (AHRI), a group of Georgia Tech faculty and students researching the next generation of technologies and applications to support residents in their homes.
